CHEST / BUST

Measure around the fullest part of the chest, just below underarms and around shoulder blades.

WAIST

Measure around waistline where you normally wear your pants, keeping your forefinger between your body and the measuring tape. Or, measure the entire waistband of your favorite pair of pants. If you are between sizes, round up to the nearest inch. For example, if your measurement is 32.5", round up to size 33".

INSEAM

Grab a pair of your favorite pants and lay them flat. Measure from the crotch seam along the inside of the leg down to the cuff (opening of the pant leg). If you are between sizes, round up to the nearest inch. For example, if your measurement is 31.5", round up to a size 32".

OUTSEAM

Grab a pair of your favorite pants and lay them flat. Measure along the outside of the leg down to the cuff (opening part of the pant leg). If you are between sizes, round up to the nearest inch. For example, if your measurement is 33.5", round up to a size 34".

BELTS

Measure over the waistband of your pants. This number should be around 1-2 inches longer than your waist size.

HATS

Place the tape measure around your head just above the brow line.

Appliqué:

Fabric or lace designs that are attached to your clothes by stitching or embroidery.

Boot Cut:

Boot cut refers to the opening of a pant or jean around the ankle area. This is usually around 18" in diameter and is designed to rest comfortably around your shoes.

Combed:

A process that removes impurities and short fibers from a fabric such as cotton. This yields a noticeably softer and stronger fabric.

Embossing:

Fabric or lace designs that are attached to your clothes by stitching or embroidery.

Organic:

Fabric that has been grown and processed organically. In order for a fabric to be labeled organic, it must meet specific standards that ensure the reduction of environmental degradation.

Pleat:

A fold of fabric normally just below the waistband that allows extra room in your garment.

Ring-spun:

Fabric (typically cotton) that has gone through a spinning process resulting in a finer thread. This produces a soft yet durable fabric commonly found in t-shirts.

Rise:

It's the measurement from the crotch of your pants, shorts, or boardshorts to the top of the waistband.

Screen Print:

The process by which ink is applied to a garment.

Slim Fit:

Usually referring to shirts or pants. These are generally a snugger fit than your average shirt or pant.

Viscose:

A material that is breathable like cotton, but looks and feels like silk. A common form of viscose is rayon.

Yoke:

An area of fabric in shirts or pants that enhances the fit. For example, the yoke on a shirt would be on the back area across the shoulders.

Whiskers:

Faded lines usually located on the upper thigh used to simulate wrinkles on an old pair of jeans.
