Custom X was formed in 1988 by Debbie Colwell, who worked in the beginning with Tom Morey, the inventor of the bodyboard.

Starting out as a custom bodyboard company only, Custom X soon caught the attention of retailers who were requesting these top quality bodyboards.

In 1993 Debbie took on a partner to form Superior Foam Products with the purpose to grow Custom X. Today Custom X is sold worldwide and has the best shaper/designers in their factory. Custom X also has two of the top pro team riders in the world.

Custom X is known for top quality and innovative bodyboards as well as excellent customer service.

Bodyboards and bodyboarding are rich in Custom X's history with the best shapers and designers working in their Oceanside, California facility. Debbie still runs the day to day operations with top shaper and designer Pete 'PMA' Anaya running the production and R&D department.
