- What sets Boardworks apart from other epoxy sandwich manufacturers is our proprietary TEC, (thermal epoxy compression) technology. Utilizing this technology, where we apply both heat (150-175 deg.) and pressure (50-75psi), Boardworks produces a sandwiched surfboard that is light, tight, responsive and very durable.
- Each Boardworks board consists of a dual-density core (1lb. eps bonded to a 9 lb. divinycell outer shell), fiberglass, and epoxy resins. In our TEC construction we are able to replicate a board from some of your favorite shapers that is highly ding resistant, is virtually free of pressure dents after serious use, and has excellent flex and rebound characteristics that give our boards a “feel” in the water that surfers of all abilities will appreciate. The TEC construction is very labor intensive taking approximately 43 man hours to produce a finished board. We at Boardworks feel it is the best process available today for producing epoxy surfboards…but don’t take our word for it. Ask our shapers or demo one today and “feel” the TEC difference from Boardworks.

- As Jack created his wetsuits the surfers' territories expanded. Northern California became a year-round surf zone. Guys were surfing New Hampshire and Rhode Island in January! Explorations and transplants opened up Oregon, Washington, and Canada. Meanwhile, divers, waterskiers, snow-skiers, and then windsurfers were wearing wetsuits. As business boomed, O'Neill relocated to 41st Avenue, where there was plenty of room for a large manufacturing facility, and he put all six kids to work: Mike helped dad design suits, Kathy got the whole operation computerized, Pat worked in promotion and organized Team O'Neill (marquee stars and hot young kids in a range of watersports), Bridget moved into a new sportswear division, Shawne tested and multi-tasked, and Tim ran all crews for ongoing product-testing expeditions and promotions, as O'Neill began to sponsor major competitions around the world.
- By 1980, Jack O'Neill's surf shop had morphed into a thriving international company, dominating the world's wetsuit market and one of the leaders in beach lifestyle sportswear in the U.S., Japan, and Europe. In 1985, having run Team O'Neill for years and effectively coordinated the company's operations in Europe and Japan, Pat assumed the CEO position, freeing Jack to surf, sail, and work at a variety of environmental projects. Besides a strong interest in saving the great white shark from extinction, Jack has also developed the O'Neill Sea Odyssey program-a free, educational cruise aboard the Team O'Neill catamaran that acquaints kids with the microbiology of the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary, which begins at Jack O'Neill's doorstep.

- Quiksilver story began in 1969 when an Australian surfer, Alan Green decided to earn his life from its passion by inventing the “boardshorts”, a swimsuit specifically designed for the practice of surf. John Law partnered with Green to develop this new concept. Few years later, Quiksilver boardshorts had taken a lead due to their design and functionality. It is then not surprising to see that those boardshorts became the number one choice for the best surfers of the time.
- The adventure continued later on the Californian coast. In 1976, Jeff Hakman (USA), one of the first surfers sponsored by the brand and wearing the famous boardshorts, obtained the production and distribution license of the Quiksilver brand in the US. With his surfer friend Bob McKnight (USA), they decided together to sell the boardshorts from the back of their Volkswagen van as they traveled from beach to beach on the Californian coast, creating a real phenomenon. From the moment they created together Quiksilver USA and opened the first shop in Newport Beach (CA), the success would not stop soaring. Few years later, Quiksilver was listed on the stock market and became, for the boardridring sports fan community throughout the world, the biggest and most successful company of its sector in the world.
