About Surf Ride Camps
Surf Ride Surf Camps are the most exciting weekly summer camps for ages 7 and up! Surf Ride Surf Camp takes place at the North Jetty of the Oceanside Harbor, one of the best beaches in the area. Our camp is more than just surf lessons. In addition to teaching all of the basic surfing skills, we want our campers to experience the waterman lifestyle, gain respect for the ocean, and learn key life skills. Surf Camp will encourage your kids to develop self-confidence in a fun and challenging environment, to interact with other campers and instructors, and to HAVE FUN!
At Surf Ride Surf Camp, your kids will learn basic surfing skills, including paddling, standing up, positioning on the board, wave judgment, and proper surf etiquette. Educational components will also be included in the camp such as proper equipment, surf safety, ocean current and tides, types of local sea life, and more.
Teaching your kids to surf is our #1 priority, but we will also mix-in some other activities including stand-up paddle boarding, jet skiing (with instructors), and tons of beach games.
All of our Surf Camp instructors are CPR certified, have experience working with children, and complete an extensive training program before the season begins. We make safety our priority, so the campers can enjoy a fun experience.
We are excited to spend time with your child teaching him/her how to surf while building memories that will last a lifetime!

Camp Location & Directions
Surf Ride Surf Camp is located at the North Jetty of the Oceanside Harbor (see directions below). For drop-off and pick-up, please pull up to the sand using the turnaround for safe loading and unloading. Look for the Surf Ride pop-up tents directly in front. Please drop-off and pick-up your kids on time. Friday afternoons are very busy at the Harbor, so give yourself an extra 20-30 minutes to pick up your child. If attending the surf contest, you may have to park in the "free parking" on the south side of the Harbor and take about a 10 minute walk to the north Jetty or pay parking costs $8.
Directions to the North Jetty:
Take I-5 toward Oceanside. Exit Oceanside Harbor Dr. Merge onto Vandegrift Blvd. Continue onto San Diego Blvd. Continue onto Harbor Dr. Turn left at the Y. Turn right at N. Pacific Street. Continue past the boat launch and snack bar. Look for helicopter landing pad on the left at the north end of the parking lot. Look for the Surf Ride pop-up tents set up next to Lifeguard Tower 16.
For the safety of your child, we require all campers to be able to swim comfortably on their own, as well as tread water for at least 2 minutes.
Please apply sunscreen on your child before he/ she arrives at camp. As part of the camp, sunscreen will be available on the beach and re-application will be reminded throughout the day. Surf Ride cannot be responsible for sunburns. Please talk to your child before camp about sun safety. If your child is sensitive sun, we STRONGLY recommend hats, sunglasses, and long-sleeve, dark-colored rashguards.
If your child has any allergies, medical conditions, or other special needs, please be sure to include them on the registration form.
Surf Ride will group kids according to their age, gender and surfing ability. This is not a restriction. We can easily accommodate campers who want to be grouped together, so please specify.
Please do not have your kids bring cell phones or other valuables to camp. Surf Ride is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
*If your child is an intermediate surfer (i.e. can surf on the "outside") please note this on the registration form. Intermediate surfers will be grouped together and assigned a counselor who will take them to the "outside."
